As the Joburg Film Festival celebrates its 8th edition in 2026, we continue to honour a powerful emblem that defines our identity and artistic vision: the Nguni Horn.
Introduced at the inaugural festival in 2016, the Nguni Horn has become the official symbol used to recognise excellence in filmmaking across all our awards and official selections. It proudly replaces the traditional laurel branch—an icon rooted in ancient Greco-Roman culture where laurel wreaths signified victory, honour, and distinction.
